Los estudios sobre el Cercano Oriente Antiguo en Argentina : breves apuntes sobre algunos recorridos de una historiografía renovada

Abstract

En Argentina, los estudios sobre distintas problemáticas del antiguo Próximo Oriente han atravesado cambios en los posicionamientos teórico-metodológicos, en los problemas abordados y en las fuentes a lo largo de casi tres décadas, desde los avances pioneros efectuados a partir del retorno a la democracia hasta llegar a las investigaciones más actuales. Pese a esa enorme y significativa renovación académica que ha alcanzado esta subdisciplina en este país latinoamericano, hasta hoy abordar sus inicios y actual situación ha sido una cuestión escasamente visitada en los balances historiográficos acerca del desarrollo reciente de la disciplina histórica en la Argentina o, en el mejor de los casos, ha merecido únicamente comentarios marginales y/o menores dentro de ellos. Frente a ese diagnóstico, el presente artículo expone un análisis de los estudios históricos sobre el Cercano Oriente antiguo en el campo historiográfico argentino, y procura dar cuenta tanto de la trayectoria académica de los centros y especialistas en la materia más representativos del país como de los principales horizontes temáticos operantes en las investigaciones.

In Argentina, ancient Near East studies have through for several changes (e.g. theoretical and methodological positions, the issues studied and the historical sources) over nearly three decades, since the pioneering progress made since the democracy return to the most current researches. Despite this huge and significant academic renewal that has reached this sub-discipline in this Latin American country, until today the beginnings and current situation of the ancient Near East has been a matter sparsely visited in the historiographical balances about the recent development of History as discipline in Argentina or, in best cases, this question has received only marginal and/or minor comments. Confronting this diagnosis, this paper presents an analysis of the ancient Near East studies in the Argentine historiographical field, taking into account the academic career of the most important centers and specialists in the field in the country as well as the main thematic horizons in the different researches.
