Superadiabatic spin-preserving control of a single-spin qubit in a double quantum dot with spin–orbit interaction

A protocol for controlling the localization of an electron with a fixed projection of spin between two quantum dots in a material with spin-orbit (SO) interaction is studied. Due to SO coupling, the manipulation of the electron shuttling between both quantum dots also leads to a mixing between spin projections near to the avoided crossing of levels. We use a transitionless quantum driving approach, neglecting SO interaction, to analytically design simple electric and magnetic pulses able to rapidly drive the electron along an adiabatic Landau–Zener manifold. We show that the same fields in the presence of SO interaction can also give a fast high-fidelity transition between the qubit states. The performance of the proposed protocol is assessed in the presence of SO interactions of typical semiconductor materials. It is shown that it provides a fast and efficient spin-conserving method for controlling the electron position in a double quantum dot.

First records of the minor pest termite Eucryptotermes hagenii (Müller, 1873) (Blattodea, Termitoidae, Kalotermitidae) from the Chaco Dominion in Argentina

Eucryptotermes Holmgren, 1911, comprises 2 species of Neotropical drywood termites with phragmotic head soldiers. We report the presence of Eucryptotermes hagenii (Müller, 1873) in native forests of the Chaco Dominion and Chaco Province, enlarging its distribution and recording the genus and species for the first time in Argentina. Eucryptotermes hagenii abundance was estimated as intermediate by standardized sampling. Eighteen morphometric characters were measured in soldiers and alates, and 9 of them provided new data. The colonies, located inside living trees trunks and dead wood, were composed of reproductives, soldiers, pseudergates, and immatures.

Modelo de decisión para gestión de procesos y recursos en sistemas distribuidos con balanceo de carga de trabajo

La aplicación general de modelos de decisión en los sistemas distribuidos funciona con algoritmos de intercambio de permisos y acuerdos sobre procesos que intervienen para realizar acciones. La creación de un operador de agregación que controle esta asignación de recursos a grupos de procesos y el desarrollo de un modelo de decisión que permita adaptarse a diferentes requerimientos, permitiría asegurar la exclusión mutua, la sincronización y lograría la autorregulación y el balanceo dinámico del sistema. En cada nodo se define un Runtime (software en tiempo de ejecución complementario al sistema operativo). Existe un coordinador global de Runtime en uno de los nodos que evalúa y ejecuta el modelo de decisión y el operador de agregación correspondiente, resultando en el balanceo dinámico y a la autorregulación del sistema. El escenario propuesto es la gestión de recursos y procesos de sistemas distribuidos, aplicados al entorno de las comunicaciones de datos.

Photovoltaic qualification and approval tests

This paper presents the main aspects of implementing a laboratory for testing qualification and approval related to crystalline silicon terrestrial photovoltaic devices. In this aspect, a simplified review-based IEC 61215 standard methodology for mechanical and electrical tests is presented from a practical-experimental view. The instrumental requirements and uncertainties are discussed. Specially focused on the nowadays high-size PV modules.

Calliphoridae (Diptera) in human-transformed and wild habitats : diversity and seasonal fluctuations in the Humid Chaco ecoregion of South America

A temporal study of the Calliphoridae fauna was conducted in five different types of habitats in the Humid Chaco ecoregion: an urban settlement, a cattle farm, an alfalfa crop, a savanna, and a forest. Research was carried out to analyze 1) how the species composition of blow fly communities changes across different types of human-modified and wild environments, 2) their seasonal fluctuations, and 3) the influence of climatic factors (relative humidity, temperature, and precipitations) on the temporal dynamics of these communities. In each habitat, five sites were selected for the collection of blow flies using bait traps, and flies were collected for 1 yr. In total, 32,100 blow flies were collected, distributed in five genera and 11 species. The native species Cochliomyia macellaria (Fabricius) (Diptera: Calliphoridae) was the most abundant, followed by the exotic Chrysomya putoria (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Calliphoridae). The abundance of exotic species represented 59.9% of the total sample, showing a reduction toward less disturbed sites. The Calliphorid communities were compared in terms of species richness, composition, and abundance between habitats and seasons. Our results showed that the habitat type and season affect the composition of blow fly communities. The alfalfa crop and the forest showed the highest diversity of species. In general, there was a decrease in blow fly activity during winter in all habitats. The climatic factors did not greatly affect the diversity of these flies. This study provides a first understanding of several ecological aspects of the Calliphoridae assemblages of the previously unsurveyed Humid Chaco ecoregion of South America.

Spatio-temporal variability monitoring of the floods in the center-west of the Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) using remote sensing techniques

Floods are recurring events in Buenos Aires Province, mainly caused by high-intensity precipitation, and in some cases, they persist for long periods. The objective of this study is to analyze how the topography of the central-western portion of Buenos Aires Province determines the occurrence and the extent of floods. The presence of shallow lakes characterizes the area which is controlled by the topography. LANDSAT 5 and 8 images corresponding to periods of drought and flooding in the area were compared with topographic profiles and digital elevation models generated from SRTM 3 arc/sec data. The results showed that in those areas where there are aligned dunes, and after significant storm drain engineering works, during the wet periods, the lakes, their overflows, and the subsequent runoff to the east of Buenos Aires Province flow freely, limiting the flood areas. Due to this topography, the lakes became a more permanent feature of the landscape, even during extreme drought events. In contrast, in those areas where parabolic dunes predominate, the landscape is more affected by droughts and floods. During drought events, we observed a small number of shallow lakes, and during strong storms with high-intensity rainfall, the number of lakes increases and large flooded areas generate damage to agricultural fields and neighboring cities, either due to natural causes or improvised and illegal storm drains. Early warning of flood risks and a systematic territorial ordaining would be the key to the management of the area.

Respuesta lacustre a la variabilidad climática en los valles transversales (La Pampa, Argentina)

Las lagunas del valle transversal de la provincia de La Pampa se caracterizan por ser cuerpos de agua someros y de carácter permanente o temporario, que presentan diferentes respuestas frente a eventos de inundación y sequía. El objetivo del trabajo es conocer la respuesta de este sistema lagunar frente a estos eventos extremos para lograr su alerta temprana. Es por ello que se realizó un análisis de la variabilidad pluviométrica en el cual se utilizó el Índice Estandarizado de Precipitación (SPI, en inglés) aplicado en varias localidades del área de estudio con datos pluviométricos del período 1960-2017. Se hizo además un estudio de las variaciones morfométricas de las lagunas y charcas temporales. Para ello, se procesaron y analizaron imágenes satelitales Landsat 5 TM path/row 228/086 que también fueron utilizadas para calcular los parámetros morfométricos definidos por Hutchinson (1957). Como resultado, se pueden mencionar que este sistema lagunar se caracteriza por la heterogeneidad en las respuestas morfométricas de sus superficies ocupadas con agua durante los eventos extremos de inundación y sequía. Por otra parte, al norte y este del área de los valles transversales existen períodos más húmedos y más extremos mientras que hacia el sur se presentan mayores períodos de sequía. La superficie cubierta con agua en eventos extremos de inundación cuadriplica la misma respecto en eventos extremos de sequía. Las respuestas morfométricas poseen una dirección SO-NE en sequía, mientras que en eventos de inundación es a la inversa NE a SO. Por lo tanto, el seguimiento de las variaciones morfométricas de las charcas temporales constituiría una herramienta fundamental en la gestión de alerta temprana contra las inundaciones y sequías regionales.

Calymperaceae, a new family to the bryological flora of Uruguay

Background and aims: The aim of this work was to increase the knowledge of the bryoflora of Uruguay based on the analysis of samples collected in Fortaleza Santa Teresa National Park. M&M: Specimens were collected, processed and analyzed morphologically using conventional techniques for bryophytes. Microscopic characters were observed and illustrated with light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). GobLin : el sistema operativo GNU/Linux para gobiernos

La administración pública debe estar a la vanguardia de la innovación y los paradigmas tecnológicos. La Dirección de Modernización de la Gestión y Gobierno Electrónico de la provincia de Misiones, creó una distribución del sistema operativo GNU/Linux, especialmente diseñada para la administración pública. El objetivo de este sistema operativo es brindar un paquete "todo en uno", que contenga todas las aplicaciones que una oficina de gobierno pueda necesitar, sin aplicaciones innecesarias. Esto facilita a los administradores y usuarios de TI la instalación y el mantenimiento de la infraestructura de TI. Esta distribución se construyó rediseñando la integración de los componentes de un sistema operativo robusto y maduro, resistente a fallas y ampliamente utilizado en los servicios de Internet, que garantiza la estabilidad de ejecución de los sistemas. También es un sistema seguro que no incluye la compilación de telemetría que vende la información del usuario a los servidores de la empresa, lo que garantiza la seguridad, la privacidad de los datos y las actividades del usuario. Está construido con programas de software gratuitos, incluidas las últimas versiones de aplicaciones de productividad de oficina. El resultado es una distribución especializada del sistema operativo GNU/Linux que es estable, donde los programas incluidos no quedarán obsoletos porque se actualizarán continuamente con las últimas versiones disponibles. Todos pueden copiarlo, distribuirlo y adaptarlo a sus propias necesidades. No es necesario pagar ningún coste por el software instalado ni por sus futuras actualizaciones.

Product quality software. Web accessibility in the management of university physical resources

Web Accessibility -as one of the software quality criteria- must be introduced from early stages on this design and development. In the knowledge society, Web Accessibility acquires relevance since it is a mechanism to ensure access to information without space-time restrictions. An accessible website implies that the user interface design ensures universal access to the content it displays. This article describes the contribution from the academic field, through the development of a parameterizable software tool aimed at the management of physical resources, such as computer classrooms and laboratories. In order to validate the proposal, the work focused on Visual Accessibility according to the WCAG 2.1 standard defined by the W3C. An iterative process was applied, its includes as final activity of each increase the fulfillment of the quality criteria considered. This proposal described and the software built represent a strategy in order to ensure inclusion in the society of the s. XXI.
