Protocolo del trabajo de investigación : ubicación cefalométrica del hueso hioides en pacientes respiradores bucales

Abstract

El propósito es determinar la ubicación cefalométrica del hueso hioides en pacientes que concurren al Servicio de Ortodoncia de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, provincia de Corrientes - Argentina. Metodología: La muestra estará integrada por 25 pacientes que concurran al Servicio de Ortodoncia de la F.O.U.N.N.E. (Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste), que reúnan los criterios de inclusión. Previa explicación del trabajo de investigación al que serán sometidas las telerradiografías y con el consentimiento tanto de los pacientes como de los padres/tutores se completará la historia clínica reglamentaria de la Institución para su inclusión en la muestra. Se llevarán a cabo distintas pruebas clínicas para diagnosticar el tipo de respiración del paciente. Posteriormente se obtendrá la telerradiografía de perfil en posición postural habitual y bajo condiciones estandarizadas, para poder luego confeccionar el cefalograma y determinar en relación a la medición de magnitudes lineales, la posición del hueso hioides tanto en sentido vertical como anteroposterior. Resultados: Los resultados serán sometidos a estadística descriptiva. Las conclusiones serán de utilidad para las ciencias odontológicas específicamente en el área de Ortodoncia y Preventivas. Además de resultar de gran interés a otras ciencias de la salud como ser la Pediatría, Fonoaudiología y Kinesiología ya que aportará datos que permitirá tomar medidas preventivas en relación a la respiración bucal de paciente y las complicaciones que de ella surgen.

The purpose is to determine the cephalometric location of hyoid bone in patients attending the Orthodontic Service of the National University of the Northeast, province of Corrientes - Argentina. Methodology: The sample will be composed of 25 patients who attend the Orthodontic Service of the F.O.U.N.N.E. (Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of the Northeast), which meet the inclusion criteria. After explaining the research work to which the cephalograms will be submitted and with the consent of the patients and the parents / guardians, the clinical history of the Institution will be completed for inclusion in the sample. Various clinical tests will be performed to diagnose the patient's breathing type. Subsequently, the teleradiography of profile in the usual postural position and under standardized conditions will be obtained, in order to be able to make the cephalogram and determine in relation to the measurement of linear magnitudes the position of the hyoid bone both vertically and anteroposteriorly. Results: The results will be submitted to descriptive statistics. The conclusions will be useful for the dental sciences specifically in the area of Orthodontics and Preventive. In addition to being of great interest to other health sciences such as Pediatrics, Speech Therapy and Kinesiology since it will provide data that will allow taking preventive measures in relation to the patient's mouth breathing and the complications that arise from it.
