Historia y memoria, olvidos y omisiones en la misión San Francisco del Laishí

Abstract

El artículo indaga en las relaciones entre historia y memoria en la Misión San Francisco del Laishí, fundada en

1901 en el Territorio Nacional de Formosa por la orden franciscana y que funcionó hasta la década del 50.

Nos preguntamos por el relato construido sobre el accionar franciscano y el lugar que tiene en tal relato la visión

de los indígenas con relación a la “obra” de la que fueron “destinatarios”. Analizamos diferentes planos en los cuales

es posible identificar indicios para responder al interrogante: las historias relatadas y escritas entre los pobladores, las fuentes documentales o primarias y la bibliografía

académica. El análisis de diferentes tipos de fuentes nos

permitió brindar algunos elementos para pensar una historia de la memoria sobre Misión Laishí, considerando la

evolución de las representaciones del pasado e incluyendo tanto el análisis histórico del acontecimiento propiamente dicho, como el análisis de su posteridad.

This article considers the relation between history and me- mory in The San Francisco del Laishi Mission, which was

founded in 1901 in the Formosa region by the Franciscan Order and remained open until the fifties.

We interrogate the account which has been elabora- ted regarding the work of the Franciscan Order and the

place of the native population in it as the “recipients” of this “work”. We analyze different schemata looking

for avenues by which the question may be approa- ched: stories transmitted both in written and spoken

form from the settlers, documentary sources and the academic literature. The analysis of different sources enables us to consider some elements that can be used to build a story of memories of The Laishí Mission, taking into account how depictions of the past evolve and including both the historical view of the moment itself and the examination of its legacy.
