Taxonomía del complejo vernonia rubricaulis (vernonieae, ssteraceae)

Abstract

El grupo de entidades afines a Vernonia rubricaulis Humb. & Bonpl. ha sido tratado alternativamente como una sola especie muy variable o como diferentes entidades por distintos autores. En el presente trabajo se describen las cuatro especies reconocidas para este complejo, incluyendo una nueva entidad del nordeste de Argentina y Paraguay. La nueva especie, V. pusilla, se diferencia de las restantes especies por su pequeño porte, el nivel de ploidía, la forma de las hojas y el tamaño de los capítulos.

Vernonia rubricaulis Humb. & Bonpl. and their related species have been considered alternatively like a single variable species and as different entities by different authors. In this study the four recognised species of the V. rubricaulis complex are described, including a new taxon from northeastern Argentina and Paraguay. Vernonia pusilla, the new species, is distinguished from the remaining entities of the complex by its low height, leaf shape and head size.
