The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the use of school
backpacks with musculoskeletal pains from an objective perspective, based on daily
experiences of the students of School No. 323 Islas Malvinas of Barrio Molina Punta in
the capital city of Corrientes.
To achieve the objective, the Theoretical Framework is the foundation of the
research, it provides and guides the degree of knowledge that teachers and parents
must have in the educational community of School No. 323, about musculoskeletal
pain and injuries caused by the inappropriate use of the school backpack and the
excess weight of it. The applied theory in the investigation, raises a conduct before the
life, directed towards the benefit of the health and the well-being, guides and helps the
educative system. It is also aimed at students to learn to perform their own self-care
actions, so that they adopt appropriate postural habits and that they do not suffer
alterations that lead to back pain due to the incorrect use of the school backpack.
The measurements, weighing- performed with digital scales, metal metric belts,
EVA (93) (Visual Analogue Scale) - and the results of the surveys shows that the
students adopt incorrect postures when carrying the school backpack, that they use
backpacks with inadequate characteristics and transfer weights that surpass the
suggested values, which shows why the students suffer musculoskeletal pain.
Therefore, the solution of the problem is directed to propose a guide of preventive
actions, to avoid injuries and pains in the back, to take care of the vertebral column of
the childrens, whose object is to promote the knowledge of habits of postural hygiene,
destined to eradicate pains and injuries of column of the students.
