Unidades territoriales del Chaco desde una aplicación cuantitativa

Abstract

El tema trata sobre la determinación de regiones homogéneas politéticas de la provincia del Chaco a partir del análisis de variables demográficas, sociales y económicas, utilizando técnicas de la geografía cuantitativa. El objetivo es reconocer áreas diferenciadas, desde el punto de vista humano, en dicho territorio. La metodología consistió en conformar matrices de datos absolutos, relativos y estandarizados, hallar el peso de las variables a través de la función varianza, luego calcular la distancia taxonómica y aplicar la técnica de permutación de Bertin entre pares departamentales. Estos dos últimos procedimientos se sintetizaron en matrices simétricas, cuyos datos posibilitaron la elaboración de mapas y gráficos que, a su vez, permitieron delimitar la organización regional del espacio chaqueño desde la perspectiva señalada. Los resultados más relevantes muestran el fuerte contraste entre las jurisdicciones que contienen a las ciudades más grandes de la provincia y el resto del territorio chaqueño, especialmente el noroeste.

The theme consists in the determination of homogeneous polythetical regions in the province of Chaco from the analysis of demographic, social and economic variables, using techniques of quantitative geography. The objective is to recognize differentiated areas, from the human point of view, in that territory. The methodology consisted of forming absolute, relative and standardized data matrices, finding the weight of the variables through the variance function, then calculating the taxonomic distance and applying Bertin’s permutation technique among departmental pairs. These last two procedures were synthesized in symmetric matrices, which data enabled the elaboration of maps and graphs that, in turn, allowed to delimit the regional organization of the Chaco space from the indicated perspective. The most relevant results show the strong contrast between the jurisdictions that contain the largest cities in the province and the rest of the Chaco territory, especially the northwest.
