La construcción de la Historia de las Misiones Jesuíticas del Paraguay desde los enfoques de Ernesto J. A. Maeder

En la historiografía argentina de la segunda mitad del siglo XX referirse al tema de las Misiones Jesuíticas del Paraguay y a la experiencia misionera en general supone la inmediata relación con el nombre de Ernesto

J. A. Maeder. Sus estudios vinculados a esta temática además de haber con- tribuido al conocimiento de fuentes desconocidas de significativa importan- cia, han ofrecido con rigor bases sólidas para el análisis de la acción de la

Compañía de Jesús en el contexto misional rioplatense. En este artículo se presentarán las características de su producción afín al espacio jesuítico-guaraní paraguayo. Indagaremos sobre su visión del tema misional, su perspectiva de historia regional en la que incluyó a las Misiones y su modelo de región histórica como categoría de análisis para sustentar sus pioneros estudios sobre el Nordeste argentino.

In the Argentine historiography of the second half of the 20th century, referring to the theme of the Jesuit Missions of Paraguay and the missionary experience in general supposes the immediate relationship with the name of Ernesto J. A. Maeder. His studies linked to this topic, besides having contributed to the knowledge of unknown sources of significant importance, have rigorously offered solid bases for the analysis of the action of the Society of Jesus in the missionary context of the River Plate. In this article, the characteristics of its production related to the Paraguayan Jesuit-Guarani space will be presented. We will inquire about his vision of

the missionary theme, his perspective of regional history in which he in- cluded the Missions and his model of historical region as a category of anal- ysis to support his pioneering studies on the Northeast of Argentina.
