Marcas de identidad en y a través de la fotografía. Aproximaciones a la memoria y el imaginario del nordeste argentino

Abstract

El trabajo pone en discusión dos estudios de caso que abordan la fotografía como objeto y como herramienta de análisis en las provincias argentinas de Chaco y Corrientes. El primero examina las representaciones del cuerpo en fotos de indígenas e inmigrantes chaqueños de mediados del siglo XX y las respuestas actuales de un grupo indígena del Chaco antes tales imágenes. El segundo aborda las prácticas de religiosidad en fotos de localidades correntinas obtenidas entre los siglos XX y XXI y se com- plementa con un trabajo etnográfico en las festividades actuales. El análisis de las imá- genes de diferentes fotógrafos por un lado y la utilización de dicho corpus como disparador de recuerdos (relevado mediante el registro oral) por otro, revela aspectos comunes a ambos es- tudios: los alcances y límites de la fotografía para convocar el pasado y afectar el presente reafirmando pertenencias comunitarias, étni- cas y religiosas del nordeste argentino.

The work places in discussion two case studies dealing with photography as an object and tool for the analysis of the Argentine provinces of Chaco and Corrientes. The first examines the representations of the body in pictures of indigenous and chaqueños of mid-20th century and the current responses of a Chaco indigenous group regarding such images. The second deals with the practices of religiosity in pictures of correntinas municipalities obtained between the 20th and 21st centuries, com- plemented by an ethnographic work in current festivities. The analysis of different pho- tographers on the one hand and the use of such corpuses as memories shutter (relieved by oral registration) on the other, reveals common aspects to both studies: the scope and limits of the picture to convene the past and affect the present reaffirming community, ethnic and religious belongings of the Argentine Northeast.
