Uso de pantallas en sala de espera de un hospital pediátrico público en la ciudad de Corrientes, Argentina durante los meses abril-junio del año 2019

La era digital ha llegado a nuestros días, y la utilización de dispositivos móviles y pantallas táctiles se ha generalizado, habitualmente, con independencia del estatus económico o social de las familias. El objetivo fue evaluar la prevalencia del tiempo de uso de pantallas, los usos, motivos y como influía en el estado emocional de los niños mientras esperaban a ser atendidos juntos a sus cuidadores primarios. Es un estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal. Se desarrollaron 247 observaciones de bebés, niños y adolescentes registrando en una planilla. Posteriormente se creó una base de datos y analizó con Epi Info. Además, se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a los cuidadores. Éstas fueron analizadas y clasificadas con el software Atlasti. El 59,5% usaban todo el tiempo o la mayor parte del mismo. Del total, el 52% utilizaban los dispositivos para jugar, 38% para mirar videos, y el 10% restantes para redes sociales. En general, los cuidadores otorgaban las pantallas para calmar a los niños. Respecto al estado emocional, el 63,9% de los niños estaban tranquilos, el 32,7% inquietos y el 3,2% enojados. Los adultos, en su mayoría, proporcionaron pantallas a los niños en un alto porcentaje, con el fin de que se queden quietos mientras aguardaban. Además, |otorgan las pantallas a sus niños una buena parte del día para tranquilizarlos, aun reconociendo los riesgos. Se debería reforzar la tutela de los responsables para contribuir al desarrollo y bienestar de sus niños.
The digital age has come to this day, and the use of mobile devices and touch screens has become widespread, usually, regardless of the economic or social status of families. The objective was to assess the prevalence of screen use time, uses, motives and how it influenced the emotional state of children while they waited to be cared for together with their primary caregivers. It is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study. 247 observations of babies, children and adolescents were developed, recording on a spreadsheet. Subsequently, a database was created and analyzed with Epi Info. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with the caregivers. These were analyzed and classified with the Atlasti software. 59.5% used all the time or most of it. Of the total, 52% used the devices to play, 38% to watch videos, and the remaining 10% for social networks. Caregivers generally provided screens to calm children. Regarding the emotional state, 63.9% of the children were calm, 32.7% restless and 3.2% angry. The majority of the adults provided screens to the children in a high percentage, in order to keep them still while they waited. In addition, | they give screens to their children a good part of the day to reassure them, even recognizing the risks. The guardianship of those responsible should be reinforced to contribute to the development and well-being of their children.
