Bordar, meditar y la violencia de quedarse dentro de la casa. Un trabajo de mujeres en la artista textil argentina Estela Pereda

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la obra de la artista plástica argentina Estela Pereda en Profesión: sus labores y busca, operando críticamente, poner en relación sus creaciones con reflexiones feministas sobre roles y estereotipos genéricos, haciendo hincapié en el tipo de trabajo de mujeres y varones. Por otro lado, y para insertar y contextualizar la propuesta, el análisis repasa las interpretaciones históricas que recaen sobre el trabajo textil y artesanal. Las cinco obras seleccionadas y una fotografía antigua, son una parte representativa de la instalación, sin embargo, la reflexión busca ir más allá de la selección, y usar la muestra como excusa para pensar en el trabajo de costura y bordado de las mujeres, dentro de las casas como lugares privados.This article analyses the work of the Argentinian plastic artist Estela Pereda in Profesion: sus labores (Profession: her labours) and tries, operating critically, to put in relation her creations with feminist reflections, about gender roles and stereotypes, emphasizing in the kind of women and men’s work. On the other hand, and for inserting and contextualizing the proposal, the analysis mentions the historical interpretations that are related to the textile work and craftwork. The five selected works, and an old photograph, are a representative part of the installation, however, the reflection tries to go further the selection, and to use the display as an excuse to think about the women’s sewing and embroider work at home as “private” places.
