Escondida-Chaco. Oral health is a strong socioeconomic and behavioral indicator that can be considered
when studying health care inequalities. (1) The problem with the highest prevalence in
oral health is dental caries, an avoidable, cumulative chronic disease, considered the
main cause of pain and loss of teeth in its most advanced stages, and whose sequelae
have long-term impact. The objective of this work was to analyze the oral health situation, the profiles of dental
caries of the children who attend the Garden No. 14 Juana de Ibarburu of the town of La
Escondida, in order to identify the problems and determine intervention strategies.
In the year 2017 and 2018, a cross-sectional observational descriptive study was carried
out on a sample obtained from a random random sampling, with 50% of the population
under study being established and that met the following inclusion criteria, that is a
child healthy, that you are not taking any medication, that you live with your family and
that the parents willing to collaborate, with ages between 3 and 5 years who attended
Garden No. 14 Juana de Ibarbouru de La Escondida - Chaco. who were invited to
participate voluntarily in the study and their parents or guardians signed the informed
consent, in accordance with the regulations in force in the Bioethics Committee. In all
the children involved a clinical history, O'Leary index, Ceod index , registration of
carbohydrates and the evaluation of the social-economic situation. The data was
dumped in an Excel spreadsheet and statistically analyzed using the Infostat software.
Descriptive statistics, arithmetic mean, standard and median deviation, univariate
statistics were performed to know the behavior of the numerical variables and a
wicolxon test was also performed with the values obtained from non-continuous
variables carious, extracted and sealed, at the beginning and at finally and finally a
multivariate analysis, principal component analysis to extract information in the data set obtained
Of the results obtained, 55% of the population was represented by 4-year-old children
and 37% by 3-year-old children. Regarding the sex variable, the sample was distributed
equally in 53% of the children were female and 47% male. In order to know the oral
health status of the population, it was observed that the variables with the highest
incidence are the O'Leary Index, which shows more than 50% not compatible with
health, decayed with 3.4 and the sugar moments more than 4 The measures of central
tendency of dental pieces affected by cavities in children attending garden No. 14 Juana
de Ibarbouru. (n = 100) showed an average of 2.95 (median of 2). The prevalence of
caries in the total sample was 87%, 43% corresponding to low severity situations, 28%
of the cases corresponded to situations of high severity Regarding the socio-economic
level and level of education and those who have secondary and tertiary education have a
higher socioeconomic level than those who only have primary education. The principal
components analysis performed with all the variables analyzed in the Components
explain 49% of the total variability. It can be observed In component one the variable
level of instruction followed by age has greater weight, while in Main Component 2 the
variable with greater weight is I or Leary and sugar moments. When comparing the
values of dental caries experience between data obtained at the beginning and end of the
investigation regarding the variables number of carious and sealed, they present
statistically significant difference. In conclusion, this study has allowed identifying high
prevalence and severity of caries, which require targeting of health interventions in the
La Escondida-Chaco locality.
