La nación argentina en la encrucijada : crisis de una memoria y una historia

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el conflicto interpretativo entre historia, memoria y nación que tuvo lugar a fines del siglo XX en el campo historiográfico, con el objetivo de sistematizar las ideas más representativas de aquellos intelectuales que proponían una ruptura entre historia-memoria y los que defendían su relación intrínseca. La cuestión nacional cobró centralidad en la relación historia-memoria más aun en naciones que, como Argentina, debieron atravesar procesos históricos traumáticos como las dictaduras de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. En este contexto, la historiografía de José Carlos Chiara- monte es significativa en tanto aborda la cuestión nacional desde una perspectiva histórica político-conceptual que revisa los supuestos de la historia tradicional sobre los orígenes de la Nación Argentina.

This article analyzes the conflict between history, memory and nation which took place in the field of history at the end of the twentieth century, in terms of the fundamental ide- as of those intellectuals who proposed a rupture between history and memory and those who defended their intrinsic interrelation. The national question addresses the centrality of the relation of history to memory, but in nations such as Argentina, it is necessary to confront traumatic historical phenomena such as the dictatorships in the last half of the twentieth century. In this context, the historiography of José Carlos Chiaramon- te is significant in addressing the national question within a conceptual-political-historical perspective that challenges the assumptions of traditional history concerning the origins of the Argentinian nation.
