Bubaline production is a new activity in ort country. It is becoming a valid alternative in the entire territory, acquirinng greater importance in those areas that due to the soil an weather conditions are not suitable for a profitable bovine explotaition. this species has an outstanding development and production mainly in areas of low fields which are flooded most of the year an where bovines cannot develop their entire productive potential.
The present book is the result of the effort done by producers, tchnicians and researchers to obtain an updating of the different aspects concerning the rational buffalo explotation in Argentina.
The origin and spreading of the buffalo in the world and its introduction in our country are considered. The main breeds and their distribution in the different provinces are also mentioned. Buffalo reproduction and beef an milk characteristics are analyzed. The economical aspects of the explotation as well as the main parasitic diseases are described.
