realizarse exodoncias y presentaron complica-
quedaron excluidos 7 inmunosuprimidos. Del
total de 291 se registraron n=15 (5%) complica-
ciones postoperatorias, las cuales correspondie-
ron a alveolitis y hemorragias.
The objective of the research was to determine the prevalence of post-surgical complications of dental extraction and its treatment in patients treated at the Pathology and Diagnosis Clinic of the School of Dentistry in Corrientes, Argentina. A descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out in the Pathology and Diagnosis clinic, using a non-probabilistic convenience sam- pling: patients who attended the Pathology and Di- agnosis clinic B for dental extractions and presented post-surgical complications after dental extractions were selected, from August 2021 to June 2022. The variables studied were: age, sex, dental group (in- cisor, canine, premolar, molar), location according to the maxilla, smoking habit, whether he received pre- or post-surgical medication, treatment that re- ceived the postoperative complication. During the grouping in bubbles due to the COVID-19 pandem- ic, clinic B was attended by 1184 patients, of which 298 needed dental extractions, 7 immunosuppressed were excluded. Of the total of 291, n=15 (5%) post- operative complications were recorded, which corre- sponded to alveolitis and hemorrhage. The predom- inance of post-surgical complications was observed in women, and regarding the location of the teeth, the highest frequency was in multi-radicular teeth of the lower jaw. All postoperative complications were treated with local therapies. Within the limitations of this study, it can be pointed out that, due to the pandemic scenario, patient registration was carried out at fortnightly intervals, which could have con- tributed to an underestimation of the prevalence of complications in clinic patients.
