contingente.
The work contains an approach to the notion of culture in the new philosophy that Wittgenstein made from 1929-30. It starts from the Aphorisms (VermischteBemerkungen) written by the philosopher during that period, collected after his death by Von Wright in 1977 and published by Peter Winch (1980) under the title of Culture and Value. Our target is to expose the meaning of the word ‘culture’ in relation to the notions of ‘language games’ and ‘lifestyles’ created and developed by Wittgenstein in his Philosophical Investigations. In this way we hope to show the connection between the meanings of those words, since they manifest to us more than a simple kinship or ‘familiarity’. On the other hand, we believe that by clarifying such connection we solve, at the same time, one of the most sensitive issues of the philosophy of culture, consisting in the impulse to turn such philosophy into a universal pattern of stabilization of the language games and the form of life in which we historically and contingentlyparticipate.
