Papilionoid legume originally from South America and is a
major food crop, with a world annual production of around 38
Mt (FAOSTAT, http://faostat3.fao.org/home/index.html). It is
grownthroughout the tropics and sub-tropics, and ismost important
in Asia and Africa.
