Medication error (ME) is defined as a failure in the treatment process with the potential to
harm the patient. The Prescription of Medicines (PM) can be affected by errors (EPM) by erroneous
indication in the identity of the drug, formulation, dose, route, time, frequency and duration. Antibiotics are
drugs exposed to EPM generating damage and contributing to the appearance of Antimicrobial Resistance
(ADR). To contain ADR, Antimicrobial Stewardship have been designed that use restrictive or nonrestrictive
interventions to optimize the PM of antibiotics. Resident physicians are professionals in training who can
commit EPM when prescribing antibiotics, for multiple causes among They originate in the work
environment, in the team, in the task to be conducted, in the individual himself or in the complexity of the
patient.
