Territory, culture and toponymy are terms that are linked, and at the same time are
dynamics in terms of space and time. When we appraise a geographical area as belonging
to us, it takes us to identify it or label it. In this semantical act take part as a filter the
culture with its wide range of feelings, beliefs and social, political, ethnographical, historical
and geographical peculiarities. Human beings confer ñames to what we consider ours: a
son, a pet, a ranch, a business or a territory, as a manifestation able to be apprehended by
others. On the territory remains stamped the cultural traits of the successive generations
, and therefore can Uve harmoniously together different elements that could be, ideological,
political or socially antagonist, that are developed in a contemporary way or simply
coexist as heritages of different pasts and that show up amalgamated in the present. We
can appreciate this in Chaco, where the toponymy of its administrative jurisdictions, of
its towns, and its natural traits express the complex diversity of these areas interwoven, as a reflect of the peculiarity of a recently organized space in which the ideas, contradictions and anecdotes of the different agents are intermingled , seeking to give identity to the
territory.
